Frequently asked questions

  • Where do we meet and depart from?

We meet and depart from Loggerhead Marina, located at 721 Ballough Rd, Daytona Beach. This is your meeting point and departure location for all cruises.

  • We've arrived — how do we find you?

After you park, walk toward the 3-story yellow and white metal building adjacent to the parking lot. Follow the exterior of the building around to the left. When you round the corner, follow the path down the small slope — you'll see black gates directly in front of you. That's us!

  • We arrived but only see Caribbean Jack's restaurant. Are we in the right place?

Yes! Don't worry — you're in the right place. Loggerhead Marina is located on the same property as Caribbean Jack's, just closer to the main road and next to the water. Simply turn around so the restaurant is behind you, walk toward the 3-story yellow and white building, and follow the directions above.

  • What if the parking lot at the Marina is full?

There is additional parking available at Caribbean Jack's restaurant. If the main lot is full, exit the parking lot, turn left, then immediately turn right. There is another parking lot diagonally across the street off Ballough Rd.

  • What kind of boat do you have?

We cruise aboard a Sea Ray Sundeck — 25 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, with seating capacity for up to 13 passengers. For the best comfort and experience, we limit group sailings to 10 passengers. Private charters can accommodate up to 12.

  • How long are the tours?

Tours range from 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on which experience you select. Occasionally we may be out a little longer if the Captain stops to give passengers time to watch dolphins, manatees, or to explore different areas of the waterway. If you have a hard stop time, please let the Captain know before departure so he can plan accordingly.

  • What sea life can we expect to see?

Dolphins are the most common sighting on the Halifax River — our Captain knows exactly where to find them! We'll also navigate to areas known for Manatee sightings, though they are a bit more elusive. You're also likely to spot Brown Pelicans, White Cranes, Brown Hill Cranes, Loggerhead Turtles and more. Please note that the Intracoastal Waterway is not a managed wildlife park — luring animals with food or bait is strictly forbidden. Sightings are very frequent but cannot be guaranteed.

  • Do you go out on the Atlantic Ocean?

Yes! For the 3-Hour Coastal Fun Cruise and the Sunrise Cruise, we venture onto the Atlantic Ocean for a portion of the trip. This is always subject to sea conditions, as the Inlet can occasionally experience swells of 4–6 feet during the day. The Sunrise Cruise is generally very calm.

  • Is there shade on board

Yes. We have a Bimini canvas top that covers the main seating section of the boat. Passengers who prefer shade can sit under the cover, while those who love the sun can sit up in the bow.

  • Is there a restroom on board?

We do have a head (marine restroom) on board, however it is very small and not comfortable for most adults. We strongly advise all passengers to use the marina restrooms before departure. The head is available for urgent situations while underway.

  • Is there any food on board?

Yes! We provide snacks for all cruises, including cheese & crackers, potato chips, and a breakfast pastry assortment for morning cruises.

  • Do you operate year-round?

Florida Boat Vacations runs cruises 12 months a year — Florida's climate makes year-round boating possible! That said, December through February can get cool, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Even if it feels warm at your hotel, temperatures on the water can be up to 10 degrees cooler, and cooler still when we're underway or after sunset. If the forecast shows temperatures below 80°F from 5pm onwards, we strongly recommend dressing in layers — a shirt, warm sweatshirt or sweater, and a jacket. You can always remove layers, but you'll be glad you brought them!

  • What should I bring on the cruise?

Florida's sun is strong year-round — even when it feels cool!   We strongly recommend:

    • Sunscreen (we carry SPF 30 lotion and spray on board if you need it)

    • Sunglasses

    • A sun hat

    • A camera — you'll want it!

    • Layers if cruising in winter months (December–February)

  • What if I'm prone to seasickness?

All tours spend most or all of their time on the calm waters of the Halifax River, so motion sickness is uncommon. However, waters can occasionally become choppy, and our 3-Hour Coastal Fun Cruise and Sunrise Cruise do venture onto the Atlantic Ocean. If you have a tendency toward seasickness, we recommend taking Dramamine or similar medication prior to boarding to ensure the best experience.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We'll miss you! You're welcome to cancel any time up to 24 hours before departure for a full refund.

  • What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety is our #1 priority. The Captain will assess weather conditions before every cruise. If there is rain or lightning, we will cancel the tour and notify all passengers. You'll have the option to rebook for another date or receive a full refund. Weather updates will be communicated within 1 hour of the scheduled departure time

  • Is smoking or vaping allowed on board?

No. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on board.

  • Can I bring glass containers on board?

No. Glass containers are not permitted on board for safety reasons.

  • Can I bring my own alcohol or food on board

Passengers may bring their own alcohol and snacks on board only with prior approval from the Captain. Other outside food is not permitted. Please note that intoxicated passengers may be denied boarding for the safety of all guests

  • Can I bring my dog?

Pets may be permitted on board with prior Captain approval. Dogs must weigh less than 20 lbs, be socially trained, and be non-shedding.
